Violence against women continues unabated around the world. According to a recent United Nations report, one of every three women on the plant will be physically or sexually abused in her lifetime. Noted playwright, Eve Ensler said:
Women are the greatest resource of the planet. If you destroy trees,
forest, ocean and sky - it is the same story. If we are to end violence
against women, the whole story has to change. Unless the story of
violence against women is rewritten, the effect on humankind
will be devastating.
At Women’s Services, we’re rewriting the story in the ways we live our lives and spend our time - in the ways we raise our sons and daughters - in the ways we love our husbands, our wives, our girlfriends and boyfriends - in the ways we connect with others around us and help those who are victims of violence. One hundred years from now when someone is asked, "Where did the story change, the answer will be - Women's Services ... Meadville, Pennsylvania.
